DigiLens® D-MUX - LASER LIGHT MULTIPLEXER

Many new and exciting "Multi-Projector" applications and displays are being developed and deployed. The advantages are many, from "Immersive Displays" for gaming and telepresence, to high resolution in advertising and point of sale (PoS). Projection displays can be easily "Blended Together" using a variety of software solutions. SBG are building several displays for this new category and have developed a revolutionary new light switching module to foster laser implementations. Using the D-MUX illumination module, a single RGB laser may be switched to 3 low cost single panel 1080p projectors, saving 2/3rds cost of the expensive laser diodes and using 100% available light all of the time.


SBG Projector Blending Technology

Current field sequential MicroDisplay projectors, for example LCOS or DLP, only use 1/3 of the RGB laser light at any time. A laser diode source has to be pulsed at low frequency, which is costly, inefficient and may lessen the laser diode lifetime. Using the DigiLens® Flux Multiplexer, RGB light is "Routed" to any one of three projectors in real time, all the time. For the first time, three single panel LCOS or DLP MicroDisplay projectors may be driven at the same time, with significant savings in both cost and efficiency.

Individual switching optical elements are time sequentially routing the RGB Laser Diode beams. 3x "White Light" sources illuminate the 3x 1080p projection heads. Illumination module is packaged in a small, solid state optical module. Output to fiber channels also possible for MEMS and 3D laser display applications.
