Jonathan D. Waldern, Ph.D.

DigiLens Chairman & CTO

Dr. Waldern completed a Ph.D. scholarship in VR, at Loughbrough University of Technology under UK’s advanced computing initiative. He founded Virtuality Inc, a pioneer in VR training and entertainment. Following a successful IPO, he emigrated to California to pursue research interests. DigiLens, Inc., materials and waveguide platform applications redress the fundamental deficiencies of classical optics and today the company manufactures a range of ultra-thin, AR, VR and Biometric sensor products. A named inventor on over 70 patents, he is also the recipient of three national small business awards for innovation, manufacturing and management. Photonics Spectra awarded DigiLens “Optical Component Gold”.

Robert A. Young, Ph.D.

Independent Director

Dr. Young earned his B.S. in chemistry from the University of Delaware followed by a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from MIT. Previous to joining the DigiLens, Inc. Board of Directors, he served as a member of Tessera Inc. (NASDAQ TSRA) board of directors since 1991 and chairman of the board from 1996 to 2002. After leaving his position as President of IBM Instruments, he became a managing director at investment bank, Dillon, Read & Co, Inc. before serving as CEO for Indian Rock Technology, Inc. then Curl Corporation. Currently a Partner at Darwin Ventures, a private equity firm focused on venture capital, Dr. Young has served on the DigiLens, Inc. Board of Directors since May 2008.

Jim Whims

Partner at Alsop Louie Partners.

For the last decade, he was a partner at Techfund Capital in the US and Europe, where he invested in companies like 3DFX and Portal Player.  Jim was a co-founder of Worlds of Wonder and was a key executive at Software Toolworks and Sony Computer Entertainment.  In 1996, Adweek/Brandweek recognized him as the Marketing Executive of the Year from driving revenues from zero to $1B in one year at Sony, where Jim managed the launch of the Playstation in North America.  Jim also serves on the Board of THQ and Synaptics.  He received his MBA in Finance from the University of Arizona and a BS from Northwestern University.
