SBG engineers develop applications for leading CE customers
Founded in 2003 and based on pioneering work in reactive monomer liquid crystal nano-composite materials for telecommunications applications, SBG Labs Inc. develops and manufactures an award winning electro-optical material system. Using a proprietary holographic recording process, the company is able to integrate multiple optical functions into a single element, called a “Switchable Bragg Grating” (SBG), which enables a range of unique, high value sub-systems used in digital projection displays.

Digital projection displays are transitioning from Mercury Lamps to High Brightness Light Emitting Diodes (HB-LEDs). The DigiLens® “Light Engines”, integrate LED’s into industry leading illumination systems which not only replace lamps, but also enable new projector features like miniaturization and “3D”.

SBG has developed two new products for LED and Laser Diodes, which are now being prototyped for multiple 2009 products. In one high growth segment, laser displays, SBG has emerged as the only solution enabling both high display quality and miniaturized form factor.

SBG supports CE customers with proprietary designs under non-exclusive development contracts. Thereafter, SBG supplies volume manufactured DigiLens® product from industry leading licensed manufacturers in Japan. SBG has amassed a portfolio of over 50 granted patents and filings.
