DigiLens Board Names Chris Pickett as Next CEO
Jonathan Waldern to Become Chairman of the Board & CTO
SUNNYVALE, CA — June 20th, 2017 — DigiLens announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Chris Pickett as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Pickett was also elected to the Board of Directors of DigiLens, effective June 20th, 2017. Jonathan Waldern continues his role as Founder and CTO and will serve as the Chairman of DigiLens’s Board.
“This is the perfect time for Chris Pickett to become DigiLens’ next Chief Executive Officer. We’ve selected a very strong leader at a time when DigiLens is in a strong position,” said Jonathan Waldern. “Today’s pace of change in Augmented Reality (AR) and wearable displays is exponential. Seminal releases like Windows 10 and iOS 11 are delivering new platforms for developers to build AR apps on hundreds of millions of devices, letting users place and interact with virtual content on top of real-world scenes. DigiLens’ role in delivering its aerospace, automotive and consumer wearable AR displays to compliment this transformation has never been more important.”
“Our next CEO needs to thrive in a highly dynamic environment, to be capable of accelerating what is working very well for DigiLens, and disrupting what needs to change. Chris is unique in his ability to translate vision and strategy into world-class execution, bringing together teams and ecosystems to drive results. Chris’ vision, strategy and execution track record is exactly what DigiLens needs as we enter our next chapter, which I am confident will be even more impactful and exciting than our last.”
“I’m very excited to be joining DigiLens at this pivotal time in its history,” said Chris Pickett. “I believe DigiLens is uniquely positioned to become the leader in delivering display technology to provide a digital overlay of information over the real world in several, fast growing markets. I look forward to helping to drive success with Jonathan, the board and our employees.”

DigiLens waveguide optics and display will allow many OEM’s to finally access the “eyeglass thin” waveguide component technology for AR applications. Along with strategic partners including Panasonic, Sony, Continental, Rockwell Collins and Foxconn, DigiLens has been steadily developing the requisite optical materials and recordation processes to manufacture precision diffractive optics by photographically printing (not etching) the nanostructures. These electrically Switchable Bragg Gratings (SBG) allow for a higher efficiency and a wider field of view AR display, in addition to the “printable” low cost manufacturing benefit. DigiLens has undertaken an extensive development process funded over many years from military research grants and corporate R&D support.
