Optical Process Technician

Digilens is seeking qualified candidates for an Optical Process Engineer/Technician role to join our dynamic company working on next generation AR products. The ideal candidate would have at least a limited optics background and able to focus on process development and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Physics or related discipline
  • Related industry experience can be substituted for formal education
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in large teams in addition to small groups
  • High energy and desire to work in a start-up atmosphere

Responsibilities:

  • Perform “Hands On” making, testing, evaluating of DigiLens waveguide displays.
  • Record measurement data/Generate test reports

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with LabVIEW
  • Experience with optical alignment tools, devices, and techniques a plus
  • Process development experience in R&D manufacturing environment

We’re looking for a junior level Optical Test and Measurement Engineer to join our Product Development Team, working on unbelievably cool product applications. On the personal development side, you will not only master many aspects of next generation digital optics, but potentially take your career path a decisive step further in a vibrant fast growing company with room for employees to grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform “hands-on” making, testing, evaluating, and de-bugging of custom optical assemblies
  • Process documentation, measurement and data extrapolation into detailed metrication test reports

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Optics, Physics or a related Engineering discipline, preferably with 1+ year of industry experience.
  • Proficiency in set up, use and alignment of optical components and related test equipment
  • Strong numerical background
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent cross-functional teamwork skills
  • High energy and drive to work in a startup environment

Preferred qualifications:

  • Familiarity with LabView and/or automation hardware
  • Familiar with Matlab, Python, or similar environments.
  • Polarization and optical alignment experience a plus
  • Hands on experience with interferometers, optical alignment tools is a plus
  • Industry and/or post-grad research experience
  • Experienced in assembly of optical systems, including handling and cleaning of optics, interpreting technical documentation, describing optical system components and assembly procedures

We are looking for a Senior Optical Engineer to join our Product Design Development Team, working on unbelievably cool product applications. Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Optics, Physics, or a related Engineering discipline, with 10+ years industry experience or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in set up, use and alignment of optical components and related test equipment
  • Excellent optical design skills with Zemax / Code V
  • Experience with tolerance analysis, polarization analysis
  • Experience with optical system design and trade offs
  • Familiar with optical alignment tools and techniques
  • Familiar with lasers and light sources
  • A mix of R&D + Product Development experience
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time and task management skills.
  • Excellent cross-functional teamwork skills
  • High energy and drive to work in a startup environment

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proficient with Matlab / Labview, or equivalent environments
  • Practical knowledge of microdisplay technology a plus
  • Knowledge of diffractive + holographic technology is a plus
  • Experienced in assembly of optical systems, including handling and cleaning of optics, interpreting technical documentation, describing optical system components and assembly procedures
