What can you do for DigiLens?

  • Liquid crystal mixture design, synthesis, formulation, characterization and identification of structure-property relationships
  • Analysis of organic mixtures containing liquid crystals and other organic reagents

What you need for success

DigiLens is seeking a Director of Product Management and Customer Engineering. The position reports to the VP Sales & Technology Partnerships and is responsible for co-creating exciting products with our licensees and OEM customers.

The Director of Product Management and Customer Engineering will be judged based upon the eventual shipment by OEM customers products incorporating DigiLens technology in the marketplace.

The Director of Product Management will manage key customer relationships for the design of smart glasses or head-up displays as well as leverage the DigiLens ecosystem to increase value delivered to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define reference designs in collaboration with CTO and key customers
  • Co-define customer product plans with key internal and external technology enablers
  • Research ecosystems to identify key technologies that complement DigiLens’ portfolio (including projectors, displays, wireless technology, batteries, etc.)
  • Contribute to DigiLens’ roadmap in conjunction with CTO and engineering leadership
  • Develop product messaging including key performance metrics and value points
  • Present DigiLens platforms at trade shows and conferences
  • Establish collaborative working relationships with all the functional leaders

Desired Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in technology development, preferably augmented reality and/or displays
  • Track record of successfully delivering products intended for technology OEMs
  • Ability to work with customers of different cultural and national backgrounds
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally on a frequent basis

This position will work closely with materials engineer/scientist team to produce and QC materials and polymer formulations that are used in design, fabrication and electro-optic systems. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a fast growing and highly dynamic team in a new technology of nanomaterial for augmented reality displays.

Responsibilities

  • Perform production activities in making DigiLens waveguide.
  • Follow procedures to mix organic chemical formulations for production.
  • QC materials made with various established parameters.
  • Keep detailed records of QC data, formulation batches and waveguide production records.
  • Maintain lab equipment, glassware and supplies.

Qualifications

Customer Support Engineer

We are looking for a Customer Support Engineer to join our Advanced Manufacturing Team, working on transferring technology to customers and supporting them after acceptance. Responsibilities:

  • Program Management to transfer DigiLens technology to customers and partners
  • Work closely with development, design and release engineers to ensure customer needs are met by equipment, materials and documentation
  • Perform installation and Site Acceptance Testing at customer sites
  • Manage Factory Acceptance Testing at DigiLens manufacturing site
  • Coordinate with Pilot Line to replicate and resolve customer issues
  • Perform “hands-on” assembly, testing, evaluating, and de-bugging of custom optical assemblies
  • Complete data extraction, analysis and presentation to solve problems and improve processes
  • Create documentation of methods and procedures
  • Some travel (approx. 50%) to customer sites to qualify equipment or resolve issues

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Optics, Physics or a related Engineering discipline with 5+ year of industry experience.
  • Proficiency in set up, use and alignment of optical components and related test equipment
  • Familiar with lasers and light sources
  • Customer support experience with complex equipment and processes
  • Good verbal and written communication skills both internal and with customers
  • Excellent cross-functional teamwork skills
  • High energy and drive to work in a startup environment

Preferred Qualifications:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own and lead mechanical engineering development of R&D projects
  • Implement design decisions around new feature requests
  • Design contingency plans for critical machine updates
  • Analyze technical requirements with the team
  • Write technical documentation for new features
  • Transfer R&D designs into advanced manufacturing group
  • Keep abreast of new technologies
